Allan Stam

Allan Stam is a University of Virginia professor of public policy and politics and a faculty senior fellow at the Miller Center. His research focuses on the dynamics of armed conflict between and within states. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has worked on several consulting projects for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy’s Joint Warfare Analysis Center. Stam served as a communication specialist in the U.S. Army Special Forces and as an armor officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s and doctoral degree from the University of Michigan.
