Earl Pomeroy

Earl Pomeroy was elected to the United States Congress in 1993 and served as North Dakota’s member at-large until 2011. Pomeroy served as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee and a chair of the Social Security Subcommittee during his time in Congress. Prior to this, he was North Dakota’s insurance commissioner and the president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Currently, he is senior counsel at Alston & Bird and serves as co-chair of the firm’s Washington, DC, pro-bono committee. Pomeroy leverages his experience in Congress and as an insurance commissioner to help clients navigate sectors including health care, benefits, and social security. Pomeroy also serves on the boards of both the National Job Corps Association and the National Academy of Social Sciences. He received both his bachelor's degree and J.D. from the University of North Dakota.
