Kara Fitzgibbon

Kara Fitzgibbon is the director of the Center for Survey Research (CSR) at the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. Since she joined CSR in 2013, she has worked on hundreds of research projects, ranging in topics from disease prevention to unmet childcare needs in rural communities to workplace climate. Exemplified in her work at CSR, Fitzgibbon is committed to carrying out community-engaged research that supports empirically driven policy and decision-making. She is active in the field of survey methodology, regularly presenting at the preeminent national conference and holding committee memberships within both the American Association of Public Opinion Research and the Association of Academic Survey Research Organizations. Fitzgibbon received her doctorate in sociology from the University of Virginia with specialized training in survey methods; she also holds a master’s degree from UVA and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University.
