  • Mayor, City of Richmond, Virginia

Levar M. Stoney made history in 2016 as the youngest mayor ever elected to serve the City of Richmond. Stoney grew up in Hampton Roads, Virginia, and was the first in his family to graduate high school and college. He is committed to building “One Richmond,” an inclusive, competitive, and equitable city where everyone has the opportunity to succeed no matter where they come from, what they look like, how they worship, or whom they love. Stoney has focused his efforts on funding the future: making the largest investment in education in a quarter century, building three new schools in communities of color, supporting an ambitious paving and road-improvement plan, and increasing Richmond’s municipal equality index score more than any other city in the nation in one year. Stoney remains committed to delivering quality city services, eliminating the vestiges of racism and ensuring high quality of life for all of Richmond’s residents.
