Prudence Layne is an experienced global educator, administrator, and scholar. She is highly skilled at developing and implementing programming that actively engages students in personal growth and discovery. Layne is a frequently requested speaker and workshop facilitator. Her professional and personal work reflects a commitment to fostering inclusion and equity, and providing opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community partners to incorporate these values into their respective learning, pedagogy, and work. Layne has brought energy and passion to community engagement and social and civic responsibility. Her insights encourage innovative responses to complex problems: social, political, and economic. She is the co-founder of the Elon Community Accessibility Network, a university-town partnership chartered to expand access and ADA accommodations for the Elon communities. Among the many initiatives Layne has developed, the Elon Freedom Scholars has already transformed the lives and changed the trajectory of several members of her community.
