Robert Bruner is University Emeritus Professor, Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, and Dean Emeritus of UVA’s Darden School of Business. He previously served as the Compton Visiting Professor in World Politics at UVA’s Miller Center of Public Affairs. His expertise includes financial crises, the relationship between democracy and capitalism, and the leadership attributes of US presidents. His numerous publications include 25 books—including The Panic of 1907 (2007, 2023), written with Sean Carr, and Deals from Hell (2005)—as well as 350 case studies and technical notes and 50 articles in professional and academic journals. Bruner received a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in finance and an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University.
