Michael Nelson is the Fulmer Professor of Political Science at Rhodes College and a nonresident senior fellow at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs. He also serves as senior contributing editor and book editor of the Cook Political Report. He has published multiple books, including The Presidency and the Political System, and numerous articles in scholarly journals and periodicals. Although most of his articles have been about American politics and government, he has also written on topics such as C. S. Lewis, Frank Sinatra and football. He earned a bachelor’s degree at the College of William and Mary and master’s and doctoral degrees from John Hopkins University.
