Sherica Jones-Lewis is the director of community research at the UVA Equity Center and has served the Charlottesville-Albemarle community for more than 15 years. After completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Mary Washington, Jones-Lewis went on to earn an education specialist degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from Liberty University. Before joining the Equity Center, Jones-Lewis was the assistant principal at a middle school in Albemarle County. Her work focuses on eradicating the academic achievement gap that exists between traditionally favored and traditionally marginalized groups, and her research explores comprehensive education as a means to motivate learning.
