Siri Russell

Siri Russell is the associate dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Partnerships at the University of Virginia’s School of Data Science (SDS). Her work is centered on strategic and operational leadership, particularly in regard to the development and implementation of the school’s structural incorporation of equity and inclusion. She also serves as co-founder of the Local Government Equity Clinic. Her work emphasizes building empirical pathways to action, supporting local government practitioners in using data to improve quality-of-life outcomes in their communities. Prior to joining the University of Virginia, Russell spent almost a decade in local government service, working in land use and policy development. She ended her local government career as the inaugural director of Equity and Inclusion in Albemarle County, VA. She earned master’s degrees in community and economic development and business administration from Penn State and Duke universities, respectively.
