Erin Tör is the inaugural Director of Communications at the University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy. She previously served as Director of Communications and Marketing at UVA’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, where she led strategic communications for five years.

From 2010 to 2016, Erin held several senior leadership roles at the Peace Corps, including Global Press Director, Deputy Communications Director, and Acting Communications Director—positions to which she was appointed by President Obama. During her tenure, she led global communications for Peace Corps' Let Girls Learn, a major initiative launched by First Lady Michelle Obama, and collaborated closely with Peace Corps Volunteers around the world to elevate their voices and stories.

In 2017, Erin was appointed by Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to serve as Communications Director for the city’s health and human services agencies. She is a recipient of the Peace Corps’ Distinguished Service Award and the Batten School’s Staff Excellence Award, and she was selected for the Obama Administration’s Public Affairs Leadership Program.
