James Burnett, a fellow in journalism at UVA’s Gun Violence Solutions Project, is the founding editor and managing director of The Trace (thetrace.org), an independent, nonprofit media company dedicated to shining a light on America's gun violence crisis. Working with a talented team of journalists, development pros, and operations wizards to achieve social impact, Burnett directs strategy and fundraising for this newsroom focused on investigative reporting.
